Red at the Bone is a story about an unexpected teenage pregnancy that pulls together two families from different social classes and exposes the private hopes, disappointments, and longings that can bind or divide us from each other, from the New York Times-bestselling and National Book Award-winning author of Another Brooklyn and Brown Girl Dreaming. Jacqueline Woodson's storytelling is magnificent, real, and riveting. I cannot wait to dive deep into this book, and all of its complexities.

Sweet Potato Pages

Sweet Potato Pages is more than just a book club. Sweet Potato Pages is a community of women who want to embrace stories that are authentic, diverse and challenge our hearts. This community also seeks to tell the stories of women who come from all different backgrounds, lifestyles, and struggles. Sweet Potato Pages seeks to write words that are good for the soul just like a sweet potato pie.

Every month,  a new book will be announced on this page, and we will read the books, discuss them, and hear from women whose stories align with the topics! This is a place where women should feel empowered, ask hard questions, and understand one another based on different stories.

If you want to be involved in the book club, simply subscribe, follow our social media handles, and interact with our Facebook group!

guide to book club

1.

On the 23rd of every month, a new book will be announced for us to read! This gives you time to purchase the book, (buy local if you can), open your mind and heart to the material, and get ready for book club!

2.

Every week, there will be discussion questions in the Facebook Group. Feel free to add comments and thoughts, whenever something catches your eye. We will discuss what we read and how we feel about it!

3.

Every month we will highlight a woman, her story, her views on the book, and much more. We hope to tell real stories of real women from diverse backgrounds.

4.

This is not just a book club, it's a community. We will tell stories, exchange ideas, fall in love with reading, and tackle complex subjects. Enjoy
